Mitsubishi Lancer GLXI (Severe Paint Correction)

The conditions of the car paint upon closer inspection really shocked me. These were the pictures taken after the foam washing and claying process. There were many little "craters" on the entire car caused by the etching through the paint. The strong lightings revealed other very bad etching caused by bird poo and rain water. I suspected that there was little or no maintenance done to the paint. The overlapping etching marks on the paint looks like fish scales and the amount of RIDS and swirls were all over the entire car.

This picture shown was the reflection of the square halogen lighting mounted on the ceiling in the petrol service station. I could hardly see the square outline of the halogen lamp as the amount of defects have really broke the shape.

I began the paint correction on the car and it was tough!! There were really layers and layers of defects to correct. This picture was taken after more than 5 passes and notice the little craters on the surrounding paint.

This picture was taken after more than 8 passes with various different product and i decided to stop the paint correction. I called and talked to the owner on the risks of premature lacquer failure and we agreed to stop the correction. I proceed with the finishing with extra caution.

These were the pictures taken after buffing out the sealant. There was nothing much i can do to improve the "craters".

Is this a case of unattended dried up bird poo over weeks? The situation would be much better if there were maintenance done on the paint. Respraying would be the option here.

I took more than 5 hrs to finish the detailing job. This was really a tough session and i advised the owner to really take care of the car after this. Every paint correction is at the expense of the integrity of the clear coat. Prevention is better than cure and periodic grooming is a must to preserve the clear coat. Thank you for viewing.
