Rainaway Nano Glass Coat

The white Vios or the silver Altis? Lai lai, prudent car wash service... anyone?

The silver Altis was chosen for this glass coating test and let's wash the car.
This six years old Altis was given a thorough wash and prepared for Nano glass coating on the glasses and mirrors. The car was rinse again after the shampooing and notice the water repellent characteristics on the front windscreen.

Here comes the stream of water ...

The glass surface is not treated with any form of coating and it cannot repel water quickly. This situation is similar to driving in heavy rainfall which resulted to poor visibility. In most cases, motorists will reduce speed and the traffic movement will be slowed down. i.e. travelling at 75km/h instead of the normal 90km/h on the highway. Have you experience similar situations during heavy downpour?

The water is flat and glide slowly down from the windscreen which resembles a water curtain which will inhibits vision and sight.

The glass panels were chamois dried and wiped with window chemical to prepare for the Nano Glass coating application. The glass panels were treated with Rainaway Nano Glass coating.

This was the results of the treated surface... impressive!

Cannot see much water action? Check out this short video clip... :)

... and the best part of the deal is, a single application of Rainaway Nano Glass coat can last up to 12 months.

Grand Vitara (>15 um Correction)

This huge SUV was sent in for a full comprehensive polish to rejuvenate it's condition. The pearl white colour was not brilliantly bright as it was heavily contaminated with blemishes and road grime. Further inspection on the car's paint condition reveals multiple pockets of deep RDS among the swirl mark on the bonnet and it really looked severe... and deep.

The darker shades of pockets on the panel are the RDS. What causes Random Deep Scratches (RDS)? I believe it was inflicted while rubbing the affected spot (Stubborn blemish/ bird poo... etc) with wrong techniques or material used. If the cleaning was executed much much earlier, the blemish will not have the opportunity to be stubborn on the surface. RDS can be costly to repair as alot of paint will be sacrifice during the paint correction process.

A good 150 minutes was utilized on this affected area and finally, i managed to restore it back to it's original conditions. The cost of the restoration process was about 19 microns of the paint work.

A total of 6 hours was used to restore this big car back to it's pristine condition.

The SUV's pearl paint work is now clean, gleaming and brilliant again.

Early intervention helps in many situations, the 19 microns would have been minimize if the blemish on the bonnet panel did not get the chance to become stubborn. Thank you for viewing, cheers.

Rainaway Nanocoat Premium

On the day of Christmas, Santa gave me a surprise as i received the new coating materials from one of my good friend from overseas. There are two different types of coating for automotive applications from Rainaway, one for the automotive glass and the other for the automotive paint work.

As usual, i conducted my own in-house test to verify the strength/ ability of this Nanocoat Premium coating on the bonnet/ hood panel. Downloading instructions from the Sifu... the surface was prepared and i decided to just go for a simple 50/ 50 test with two different LSP coatings.

Nanocoat Premium coating on the left side and my conventional sealant was used on the right side.

After products hazing, the two coatings were carefully removed and the panel was buff to shine. Both sides look good and suddenly it's raining indoor ...

After witnessing the performance of Rainaway Nanocoat Premium, hope i will be able to get my hands on their Nanocoat Diamond subsequently. (:

PS: Nano Glass coating on the glass will be tested when i find the time later, (even though my pal had already tested it for close to 160 days and it is still performing) stay tune for the updates, cheers.

Subaru Legacy Turbo Revived

This car was recently acquired from the resale market and the paint work was in a bad condition. The owner attempted to DIY the car but the paint condition was just too bad to made any significant difference. Let's take a look at the paint work.

The entire car seem like it's covered with a huge cobweb and water etched marks, it should not be too big a problem unless these defects are deep. 6 hours was my timeline set for the day and the paint coating readings were measured.

The repeated light and medium correction combo managed to shift most of the swirl marks and water scale marks but the car was not anywhere close to my acceptable level yet. This close up picture shows that there were actually multiple pockets of RDS and deep etched marks left on the paint work.

The repeated correction hits were not very useful to these defects, i had to find other means for the correction work... hmmm. After toying with other correction hits, i continued to work on the paint work for the next few hours, these were some of the pictures from the 7 hours correction detail session.

Some more pictures after the final mopping up at the eighth hours... and i just saw a sms from the owner... i knew i'm late and behind time.

My work is finally done here and frankly, more could be done if the initial paint conditions wasn't that bad. The car really look better now and the owner was happy. Thanks for viewing.

Kia Picanto Rejuvenated

I was thinking what had happened to this car because the paint's condition was terrible and shocking. I told the owner who had recently acquired the car on what can be done to it and the grooming appointment was fixed to sort things out.

On the day of the grooming, I cleaned up the car and saw the awful amount of defects on it. I took out a special wax and applied it on the bonnet/ hood panel and after 15 minutes i began to buff the hazed residue.

After 5 minutes of buffing, the results were not too bad, maybe another round with the special wax will be able to sort it out...

.................................................................................................. haiz.... time for me to get back to reality... if only i really have this special wax, confirm i'll be into Forbes list very soon. It's good to dream once in a while, "Magic in 20 minutes?" but actually i took 7 hours to complete this grooming session on a small car. These are some other defects noted on the car prior to the paint correction.

Safety checks were done to confirm the paint coating health.

Paint readings were relatively low and the roof line panel was especially low at 40+ microns... and after 6 hours of working on the paint work, finally i'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

At the end of the 7 hours... the car begin to shine and dazzle.

The owner was pleased with the polishing session and i recommend him to maintain the "wetness" of the paint work before it dry out. Simple regular waxing regime will help the car to look good, shiny and you will enjoy a decent workout as well.

This is a very busy month for me as i need to wash and wax my car very frequently in order to maintain it in a pristine state daily, all thanks to the frequent rainfall. Thanks for viewing.
