Big Cat Got Scratched/ Marred

This wasn't the average daily car that i used to groom, but since the car was sent to us, i shall do some study while reconstructing the damages on the paint work. This was one of the main heart ache issue why the car was here.

The front right fender panel had a deep gash, the damage looked bad as the scratch mark had indented the metal. Theses were the other defects assessed over the car.
Marring over the entire car was easily spotted.

This panel had more defects than the marring, etched markings were introduced as well.

This car would need correction work on the paint work. How's the quality/ integrity of the paint work to the naked eye? The paint work appeared to be very glossy and thick, high end looks... matching the product of course.

Consistent paint thickness readings at most of the panels at above 120+ microns.

Wondering if this paint work is workable?? I hope it is as the paint's condition is quite adverse.

The paint coating readings at the fenders was very much lower than the rest of the panels. I had spent 6 hours to reconstruct the damages and put the dazzling shine back on this beautiful car.

The scratch is gone, what's left behind was an elongated dent mark. My thoughts gathered... Tough paint work!

The etched marks and marring were things of the past once again.

A guy who gave me a thumbs up for the hard work done on this car. The feeling was great and motivates me to go further.

Marring gone from the curvy muscular lines, the car is looking good from all angles.

For a moment, i thought it was an Aston from this angle shot, boy i must be suffering from the fatigue...

The clarity of the car's paint work was noted to be top notched.

Looking at the horizon, the correction cum detailing session was over in this reconstruction job and i'm looking forward to more challenges. I feel that nothing is firm in reconstructing paint work, you never know what's going to happen next. Thank you for viewing the post.

MX5 Is Little But Work Isn't

This should be quite an easy paint correction session because the car is relatively small no doubt that the conditions of the paint work looked bad when i took over the car, but that was not the actual condition as it was quite dirty. Prior to wash the car again, the etched marks were easily spotted and i really hope it was just superficial type of etching. I'm keeping my fingers cross on this issue. S:

I realized that the black Mazda MX5 was actually in a very poor condition after i had clean up and prepare the car for the correction work. This may take longer than i expected from this job.

Mixtures of surface marring and water etched marks on the rear boot panel.

Front right fender with lots of marring.

The bonnet was covered with the common defects...

Closer view at the severe marring + etching marks found on the bonnet.
Lots of severe scratching found near the antenna area at the rear right panel. The paint coating level was verified and it was not a very promising paint coating on the car with certain panels reading at 50-60+ microns. I got to plan my correction work carefully in order to achieve the best possible results from the various panels.

40+ microns at the roof area... decision making during paint correction planning is important to make things right or utterly the other way round.

My usual test hits with the different range of abrasive polish were not shifting the defects on this small car, although most surface marring was eliminated after the 5th hits but the remaining water etched marks looked deep.

My prayers were answered, the defects were finally corrected after more than 5 hours of work.

No more etched marks! The car was coated with the protective paint sealant and it's gleaming and shiny again.

"How do i maintain it?" The owner popped the magic question. "It's quite a long story starting with regular routine car wash"... i was given the opportunity to blah for the next 15 minutes and the owner left with a smile on his face.

Small car but not easy to do, another car to take note for backache issue in my notes. Thanks for viewing the posting. Cheers.
